Good Witch
Something I have not been able to grasp is the wearing of pointy shoes. Every time I see a woman wearing these shoes, especially with jeans, I wonder why? Is it sexy to wear something that can be envisioned as a weapon of destruction? Maybe the pointy shoe-wearer is literally a masochist. I’ll admit that during my single months I did purchase and wear a pair of pointy shoes. Sure, I felt trendy and sexy. I’ll admit it. This was during the same period of life that I bought three items of clothing with…never mind. This is the internet and I can’t admit that I wore sparkly clothing. Anyway, within half an hour of putting on the pointy-toed shoes I was wondering if the skin on either of my baby toes was still intact. Of course, being in a club environment, the options are few. You either walk around in pain and develop a limp, because that is really sexy, or you hope that you’ll drink enough that you don’t care. Taking the shoes off is definitely NOT an option. Suffice it to say, I found one of these shoes under the passenger seat of my car when I was turning it in at the end of my lease. I enjoy my Merrill mary janes and my very well-worn fake Uggs from Costco too much to ever try and feel sexy again.
Today I saw something, though, that made me think I should contact someone in some fashion district somewhere to get in on the ground floor of the next cutting-edge shoe trend. Keep in mind, ladies, that this is WINTER. In a very northern place. The temperature reading in my car indicated that it was thirteen degrees when I saw her. She was dressed for work in pants and was wearing VERY pointy shoes. Not only were they pointy but the nose on these things had to have jutted out from her toes by a good three or four inches. I shit you not. I could see that these shoes were well worn, possibly her favorites, by the way the nose of them were trying to reach for the sky. So, with a recession in full-swing, I fear we may see that more and more sexy ladies are trying to just make do with what they have. Here is my concept for those forward-thinking fashion district designers who want to ride the recession-footwear wave:
