My Kids

January 4th, 2009

I have six children.  Luckily I only had to give birth to four of them.  Two were given to me when I married my wonderful husband (known by some as Hot Pants).  Of course I have to share them with their mother but I still consider them mine.  I’ve given a lot of thought to how I would refer to them on moesey and have decided not to use their names.  I am a mother, after all, and have to think about their privacy, dignity, and feelings.  Of course being the mother of many, my life centers around theirs (or does theirs center around mine??) so I will be writing about them.  Being who I am, I will be writing things about them that they may not want their friends to read so I’ve decided to refer to them by number.  If there were fewer of them, I could give them aliases or cutesy little nicknames but there are six and I am blond.  So without further ado, meet the kids:

#1 is 16.  And a girl.  She is ravaged with hormones, usually just before PMS hits me.  It’s not fun.  She is into theater and does costumes for her high school drama department.  She’s a junior and is doing pretty well.  Just about a 3.6 or something??  I have no freaking idea how we’re going to pay for college and she seems ok with that.  She’s learning how to drive and this is one of the scariest experiences of my life.  She’s cute and fun and dresses well and does her stuff without me having to nag her.

#2 is 13 (very almost 14).  He is a boy and one of the wonderful children I obtained through marriage instead of pain and stretch marks.  He is very smart and uses this to his advantage.  Every day.  #2 makes me the happiest mom ever when he actually likes something I make for dinner.  This is not an easy task but it makes me happy when it happens.  He does Lego League robotics and seems to really like it (his team is going to the state finals).

#3.  What do I say about this child?  He is 12 and the most emotional boy I know.  He saved for his own XBOX 360 and since he got it I suspect that he has thought of nothing else.  I mean nothing.  He plays the trombone and may be my only child to be in marching band at CHS like his Mommy.

#4 is a girl.  She is 11 and will try almost anything.  She’s adventurous, smart and has a thirst for learning about whatever is put in front of her.  She looks like Madonna from the “Like a Prayer” video.  I do not lie.

#5.  Another girl.  She is 10 and is best friends with #4.  She is dyslexic and works very hard to do grade level things.  This has forced her to develop an exactness in her personality that drives me freaking mad.  Don’t promise this one anything unless you mean it.  I mean it.  I promise.

#6 is the one who may end up in prison.  Or a CEO of some huge company.  Or both.  He the little blond angel who is trying to kill me.  He loves getting into trouble.  I don’t know why but I do know he loves it.  He also builds amazing carpet cities out of blocks and legos and stuff.  Oh, and he’s obsessed with tornadoes.  Twister is his favorite movie.
